FAQ

What does mikron. do?
Coffee tools for iPhone: micron-accurate grind targets translated to clicks for your grinder, a diagnostic engine that finds the one change to fix an off cup, guided recipes with timers, and a logbook that learns your taste — the more you brew, the sharper it gets.
How does the grind recommendation work?
mikron. works in microns — real particle size — and converts to your grinder’s clicks or dial numbers. The target accounts for method, roast level, bean freshness, processing and water hardness, then your own rated brews pull it toward your personal sweet spot.
My grinder isn’t in the list.
Two cases. If your grinder is stepped (numbered clicks or detents), tell us — we add grinders regularly. If it’s stepless (Niche Zero, Eureka Mignon, DF64, Lagom and most commercial grinders), no universal chart can honestly cover it: every unit’s zero point drifts. That’s what Add & calibrate is for — mikron. learns your dial from a few settings you already use, and every tool speaks your numbers from then on.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. No account, no tracking, no analytics. Your logbook never leaves your device except when you export or share it, log a brew’s caffeine to Apple Health, set a bean reminder, back up your iPhone, or turn on iCloud sync — and a complete backup of everything, as a single JSON file, is free at any time.
Is mikron. free?
The core tools are free, and so is the full JSON backup of your data. A one-time mikron. Pro unlock adds the power features: bulk import from other apps, per-entity CSV export, advanced stats, and the caps lifted on custom grinders, custom brew methods and per-bean memory. No subscription, no ads either way.
Does it work offline?
Completely. Everything is computed on your device, so the kitchen, the campsite and airplane mode are all the same to it.
Can I import my brews from another app?
Yes — mikron. imports from Beanconqueror and from any CSV with a flexible column mapper. Your history carries over, and the learning loop picks it up from there. Bulk import is part of the one-time mikron. Pro unlock.
Why does the recommendation change over time?
Because it’s learning you. Rated brews sharpen a per-bean sweet spot, and bean freshness shifts with days off roast. Every learned number shows why it moved — tap it — and personalization can be switched off entirely in Settings.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email us (button above). Bug reports with the exact screen, what you expected, and what happened instead get fixed fastest.
How do I delete my data?
Settings ▸ Data & privacy ▸ Danger Zone has three, in order of reach. Reset settings restores theme, layout and preferences to their defaults and keeps every brew, bean, recipe and custom grinder. Clear all data permanently deletes your brews, beans and custom recipes — it shows the exact counts before you confirm, and offers to export a backup first. Reset app does that and resets every setting, returning the app to a brand-new install. Since everything lives on your device, deleting the app deletes the local copy. If you turned on iCloud sync, remove the iCloud copy too — Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Account Storage.

Support the project

mikron. is built by one person, without ads, tracking or investors. If it made your coffee better, the nicest ways to help are an App Store review, telling a brewing friend, or the tip jar inside the app.
